Organization of Islamic Cooperation calls for stronger ties to protect women

JEDDAH: The secretary-general of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation has called on member states to work together on strengthening measures to protect women.
Hissein Brahim Taha said joint actions should include the introduction of laws and regulations aimed at supporting and promoting female safety and the work of Muslim institutions operating in the field.
The organization’s leader was speaking during the UN-designated International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
Taha said that the OIC continued to do everything within its power to advance women and protect them from all forms of violence.
